Swing Arm
Retrofit Kit
To solve an age old problem we’ve developed a swing arm conversion kit that replaces the stock Cleve Bloc swing arm bushings with spherical bearings. The conversion kit covers all FLT Dressers up to 2012 & FXR models from 1980 – 2001.
The conversion over to the spherical bearings in the early models dramatically changes the handling and tracking. The sticksion in the swing arm pivot is greatly reduced with the bearings. This allows for the swing arm to react quicker to any harsh road conditions, keeping the wheel in contact with the road. The use of spherical bearings also help control any lateral & torsional movements.Â
*We offer these kits with or without the pivot axle*

UPGRADE YOUR EARLY MODEL FXR/DRESSER TO THE NEWER BEEFIER STYE FORGED SWING ARM WITHOUT HAVING TO BORE OUT YOUR TRANSMISSION HOUSING
In 2002 Harly-Davidson made many improvements toward the handling of the Dresser models. The most notable change was beefing up the swing arm and adding spherical bearings to the swing arm assembly. With these changes in mind there has been a calling to adapt the new style FLH swing arm 02-08 to early models FLH’s with the old box type swing arm.
The problem with adapting the later model swing arm to the early FLH models is that the pivot shaft is 3/4″ (0.750″) diameter. This larger than the bore in the early model transmission housing and would require boring out the 5/8″ (0.625″) transmission housing to accommodate the newer 3/4″ shaft. This is not an ideal solution to retrofit the new swing arm and refit them with new bearing spacers that have a 5/8″ internal bore, then reassemble the new swing arm either using the stock pivot shaft or a new one supplied.
